Life of a Figure Skater #2

It all started when I was 5 years old, going to learn to skate lessons once a week.  Once a week turned into 2 times a week, the next 3 times a week, and now were up to 5 times a week.  I never knew a sport could change your life until now.  Now I am an intermediate level competitor with 2 amazing, professional coaches.  Having a competiton almost every month, I have to be onto of my practice game.  My passion and love is for skating and without it, my life would not be the same.  I admit it, a few times I have thought about quitting, but looking back, the would of made my life not mine. My friends and family are so supportive of my skating and I’m looking forward to future events.

Operation Hoodsie Cup

The Boston Police Department came together to create a new operation call “Operation Hoodsie Cup”.  During the hot summer months, Operation Hoodsie Cup will be handing out free Hoodsie Cups to the children of Boston neighborhoods.  Throught the day, at various times, police officers will be giving kids a yummy treat.

The mayor of Boston is working with the police force to make this happen.  ”We are working together to improve safety and reduce crime in Boston neighboorhoods” said mayor Thomas Menino. With being a leading role in the community, mayor, Thomas Menino wants to show how much he cares for and about his cities children.

”This operation will be a an over a month stretch and it will take a lot of helping hands, but I know together, we can make this community a better and safer place”, Police officer, John Tucker, leader of the operation said.

When summer of 2012 is over, the operation committee will come together to discuss how the first year of their operation went and to see if they will keep continuing to do this Hoodsie operation.
